I can create a customised studio session for your needs, concerns & interests.

Specialist self-help & support groups catered for. Eg: cancer care, carers, parents, elderly, work teams and organisations, professional developement days for teachers, psychology specialists and therapists
Fee:  £25 – £85 per person 2 – 3 hours.  Including all art materials.

In art therapy we often begin with the present moment & our reality, which may be anything from cluttered, busy, stressed & full, to a state of ‘emptiness’; with no set theme, media or agenda, just the materials & ourselves, & take journey of discovery, as in The Art of Non-Doing:  through our spontaneous mark-making we meet who we are in that moment, the flow of imagination, our inner critics, serendipitous 'interruptions', & the mirroring responses from the world around us, all the while being free to explore processes arising in the group.

Workshops in your area:

If you would like a workshop near to where you live for a small group – Impromptu, individual sessions & day workshops and 'art-therapy-at-your-home/garden' sessions are possible & can often be arranged at short notice and can include playful, celebratory arts (painting, story, poetry, embodiment) on a theme of your choice or for special occasions. Contact me to discuss your ideas & wishes so I can create a customised event.

holistic approaches to ancestral conditions

If you live with arthritis, asthma, diabetes, eczema, psoriosis or another 'hereditary' long term condition, or persistent symptoms that pain or mystify you, please consider trying a session of the integrated body-mind approach I offer, developed over many years' explorqation of the sublte body-mind communication that can occure using several artistic modalities. Essentially very gentle, this has been providing relief from symptoms as well as radical eradication of conditions. It is based on the idea that we have come to embody a mind-set, an attitudes that creates distortions in our system and when we experience embodying an alternative these distortions may naturally, spontaneously disappear.

my personal story

Coming from a family of arthritis sufferers, I was unexpectedly & instantaneously ‘cured’ of the arthritis that had raged through my hands & feet for over 5 years the moment the specific mind-body connection leapt into consciousness during a simple holistic art therapy exercise based on the body’s natural processes developed and researched by Professor Dr. Helen Payne, UK a methodology very similar to how I work with clients holistically, iand which is now being recommended within the NHS for medically undiagnosed symptoms.

I continue to research and develop this work and have many successful case examples.

Holistic Art Therapy integrating Somatic (Bodily) Awareness, Mindfulness & Eco-Psychology

Sample Workshops & Courses:  Adaptable for your group’s specific needs.

  • PathWorking:  One of the most powerful and poetic mehods I have developed for individuals and groups. It combines mixed-media art making with walking, in a range of group & individual activities which integrate bodily, environmental & mythological levels of awareness. Metaphoric life size & miniature paths are travelled, mindfully walked, within a supportive group of ‘mirrors’ offering feedback. We draw on many ancient traditions of sacred walking; pilgrimage & labyrinth for a holistic therapeutic approach.

  • The Imaginative Body:  1-5 day experiential workshops & CPD trainings. A holistic approach to art therapy, using body-mind & environment in a deepening series of workshops. Breath & Mark-making. Gestural Drawing. Body-stories. Sensory skills & refining Therapeutic Presence for therapists & teachers.

  • The Queen of Everything:  Workshops begin with this ancient tale from the Caucasus  region, informed by the meeting of many cultural streams. Its vivid imagery, playful paradoxes & evocative resonances are resources for our contemplations of personal issues & global ecological phenomena.  See Autumn School 2011

  • The Salmon of Wisdom:  A vivid story from a traditional Scottish-Irish story with many ecological facts & resonances woven in to it. It is an inspiring vehicle an integrated approach to a number of curriculum aims:  ecological /environmental education, Scottish & local mythology & folklore, expressive art/self- expression to reflect on of age-related issues such as autonomy, destiny, adult mentors etc. Children age 8-15 but also adaptable for other age groups.

Trans Cultural Art Therapy:
In art therapy we may begin with just the materials & ourselves & take journey of discovery but we may also use our culture’s rich heritage of traditional arts and pracitices, its archetypal themes and symbols as creative resources for personal & group discovery in education & therapeutic programmes.
